Finnair launches direct flights to Finland

Welcome news for the Indian travellers who are scouting for a holiday in Finland! With the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) welcoming Finnair’a maiden aircraft AY125, to India, tourists, now, can prepare themselves for exploring Finland.

The first flight arrived in Mumbai on August 7, 2022 at 0515 hrs.

The flight AY126 left from CAMIA on August 7, 2022 at 0710 hrs. The inaugural flight departed with full flight of passengers on board.

With the opening of this route, it is anticipated that passengers will have continuous access to countries such as Finland, the United States and other major European cities.

Finnair is a network airline which is headquartered in Helsinki. The airline specializes in connecting passenger and cargo traffic between Europe, Asia and North America.

Finnair intends to connect with countries across the world and reduce carbon emission by 50% by the end of 2025. It also aims at achieving carbon neutrality by the end of 2045 latest.


CSMIA spokesperson stated that the organisation is extremely delighted to be associated with Finnair. It is one of the leading airlines catering to routes across Asia, Europe and the US.

The partnership between CSMIA and Finnair not only promises of being a gateway to one of the most sought after Nordic destinations, it also adds to the airport’s smooth and immense connectivity.

Adding a prominent tourist destination as Helsinki to its route network, the partnership is unforeseen in various ways.

It also aims at providing passengers with exclusive travel experiences across the different geographical locations of the world.

Besides being a step towards direct connectivity to Finland, it is a testament to CSMIA’s constant effort to expand the series of global destinations and vision to contribute to global travel network.

Finnair’s General Manager of India, Mr. Sakari Romu expressed that they are indeed excited to start their operations from Mumbai.

The airport will star three weekly flights to serve customers not only to provide connection between India and Finland but also to their network in the US and other prime European cities.
