On Monday morning after a blaze broke out in a train at the London Bridge the passengers were forced to leave. Smoke started pouring from beneath the carriage and the train’s break was on fire leading to sparked delays on Thameslink and Southern Rail services.
The disruption was expected to last until 2pm.
A passenger said that there was smoky smell on board and the smoke bellowed out whne he was getting off the train at London Bridge.
Another passenger shared footage of the flames on Twitter stating that the he could smell burning.
It was a dramatic start to a Monday as the National Rail expect delays into the afternoon.
Commuters were informed to avoid travel through London bridge and a statement released mentioned that a fire on a train at London Bridge resulted in some platforms being blocked.
According to a Thameslink update – We advise NOT to travel through or to London Bridge this morning. Please use alternative terminals such as London Victoria or Waterloo.
London Fire Brigade was at the scene and a spokeswoman said that they were called at 8.41am to reports of a fire on a train. The breaks were alight and all passengers were taken off the train safely.
There were two fire engines and an aerial ladder platform at the station and power was isolated on three tracks so that the fire crews could access.
Because of the fire platform 14 and 15 went out of action and the National Rail said that they anticipated platform 14 at London Bridge will be out of use until the afternoon at the earliest. The train will be off the track for remedial work.
