Rush to Yosemite National Park in order to witness the annual natural phenomenon – the Horsetail Fall that glows as ‘lava fall’. It is a waterfall that appears as glowing lava falling. It is an optical illusion created when the sun hits it at just the right angle. It is referred to as ‘Firefall’ due to this stunning marvel.

It draws scores of visitors every night. The natural phenomenon appears for a short time in February. Firefall looks different every year depending on how much water flows from Horsetail Fall. This unbelievable sight is only available until this weekend when it will dissipate until next year.

A designated parking area has been created at Yosemite Lodge and visitors walk from there to the viewing areas.

Reservations are not needed, but visitors should get there early before the park gets crowded.

The weather has played a factor into viewing this year’s ‘Firefall.’ With the snow and storm activity recently, it could be hit or miss.

Only for a couple of days in February, the sun sets at the perfect angle as it casts rays onto Yosemite horsetail fall. Even the waterfall does not flow all year. The spectacular phenomena occurs when these two come together.
