After Friday’s  Mount Agung eruption in Bali, the Bali Hotels Association (BHA) announced that it was ‘business as usual’ for Bali. The Ngurah Rai Airport was operating normally barring some flights which got delayed or cancelled.

The Indonesian island has volcanic ash rising up to 4.600 metres that affected dozens of villages. Mount Agung spewed lava and ash that sprayed volcanic debris around 1.9-mile radius.

However, no casualties were reported and the eruption lasted for four minutes and 30 seconds.

The largest and most devastating eruption in the Indonesia’s history took place in 1963. Numerous villages were devastated by the Lava flows that killed 1,100 -1,500 and the cold ‘lahar’ ashes due to heavy rainfall killed around 200.

There was another impending disaster due to volcano activity in 2017.

Flights from Qantas, JetStar, and Virgin were cancelled post the eruptions  but normal operations have now resumed.

The official press statement from Bali Hotels Association (BHA), stated that despite many international news reports of flights being cancelled in and out of Bali they could   confirm that it is business as usual  in Bali.

Apart from a few flights that were delayed or cancelled by the airlines last night the Ngurah Rai Airport was open and operating normally.

By Saturday all airlines were operating normally and no airlines shared any update to the airport authority regarding any cancellations.

Due to the wind sending some ash clouds south there were some delays and cancelling of flights out of Bali’s airport. There were no signs of major eruption however small eruptions are expected from an activity volcano.
