For Visit Florida, the Gov. Ron DeSantis, on December 2021, had committed of paying $50 million in recurring funding, the main tourism marketing arm of this US state as part of the 2022-23 fiscal year budget.

He might want to think about increasing that, if the early returns are an indication in any form.

As per the information of the tourist agency, an estimated 36 million people visited Florida in the first quarter of this year. As it was hoped that the data would exceed the same three-month period in 2020 and 2021 in an easy manner, the tourist numbers also surpassed the first quarter of 2019.

The numbers in the first-quarter shows a 1.3 percent growth from 2019, 19.3 percent from 2020 when the pandemic was no where until mid-March 2020, and 39.6 percent higher than 2021.

Still, Florida is fighting hard in drawing foreign visitors. Almost 95 percent of the first-quarter tourists were from the country itself. However, in the next quarter this should change as several countries in the world have made easy rules in travel.

That’s why officials of the U.S. airline are trying hard to convince the Biden Administration to make rules on requiring pre-departure testing for COVID-19 easy and simple on international passengers who are coming to the country.
In the first quarter of 2019, the number of foreign visitors who had visited Florida was 2.28 million.
