Florida House supports State Guard, Senate keen on tourism marketing

On Tuesday, the preliminary budget proposals rolled out. It included the House increasing money for the lately revamped Florida State Guard and also the Senate increasing money for marketing tourism.


The both House and Senate would compete for a request by Gov. Ron DeSantis to add to the work plan of transportation and things like bridges and roads to $13.4 billion impending fiscal year. In 2023, this would be up $12.6 billion.


Rep. Alex Andrade said that he has done his best. Alex is a Pensacola Republican. He chairs the House Infrastructure & Tourism Appropriations Subcommittee.


On Tuesday, House and Senate budget panels for the 2023-2024 fiscal year, started unveiling initial proposals which will start July 1st onward. The House and Senate, in the coming weeks, will pass budget plans and then will talk on a final version.


As an instance of the preliminary dissimilarities, the House infrastructure & Tourism Appropriations Subcommittee disclosed a $19.8 billion plan. The Senate Tourism and Economic Development Appropriations Committee, its counterpart, put forward a $21 billion proposal.


For the Florida State Guard, the House plan includes $107.6 million, which DeSantis reactivated in 2022 to help the Florida National Guard at the time of emergencies. During World War II, the state guard was made to put back Florida National Guard members who were organized abroad. In 1947, it was stopped, however it remained in state law.
