The digital savvy traveller can easily pick where to head and  how to get there. Through planning and forethought make a difference and experience a relaxing, stress free vacation. These travel apps can plan a lot for you, so be well covered throughout the journey!

CDC TravWell

The top U.S. health watchdog, the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention via its app, CDC TravWell App, provides information to international travellers about the health risks for the specific destination they are to travel.

The series of international diseases – SARS, Ebola, Zika, etc – seem endless. But being informed about it all can take the worry out of travel. All one needs to do is tell the app where you are heading and it will fetch destination-specific vaccine recommendations. It also will give the traveller the names of the medicines they can carry while travelling.

It even helps one find emergency service numbers of major destinations. In addition, the App lets one keep a record of their medications and immunizations and store travel documents.

Grab, is an ultimate airport-food-delivery app that permits a time-pressured traveller to order meals from the airport restaurants and skip the food court’s long ques by directly walking straight to the pick-up counters of the restaurants when their food is ready.

Travellers no longer need to fuss about missing a gate change or the flight. Grab, is available at 19 U.S. airports including Atlanta and Los Angeles as of now. It is gradually expanding overseas with an expected first stop at London’s Heathrow.

Citymapper is the ultimate conveyance app which gives you directions to get from place to another just like locals. It gives you tips such as the optimal subway exit and entrance, current timetable for a local bus, etc and helps you master the city like a local in just no time. Furthermore, it minimizes your chance to get wet, by letting you click “rain” mode to get different point-to-point advice.

Walking in an unfamiliar neighbourhood might not be always safe.  It is not always necessary that one will have a friend or family member as a companion physically. But now it is possible to ask a loved one to give you company virtually.
The Companion App permits this by letting a loved one trace your journey home via GPS on an online map. The App notifies a few requests to various contacts to see who is available and willing to keep a watch. The person need not install the app to participate. They are instead notified with a text message than links them to an interactive map showing the user’s location.
The Companion App also has a feature to blare a petrifying sound to scare off the bad guys. This feature can be used up in the worst-case situations.

The government of India, in 2017, declared that there should be a built-in panic button in all mobile phones, in order to protect solo women.
