For national tourism, New Zealand is a strategic market, said Uno

Sandiaga Uno, the Indonesia Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, has recently said that New Zealand is one of the most strategic markets that can help the growth tourism industry of Indonesia to newer heights.

Uno highlighted in a recent meeting that if they can make use of this opportunity as it should be, the tourism and creative economy sectors of Indonesia can get better. At the same time, this will give confidence to the creation of 1.1 million new and quality job opportunities because the two industries have become the basis of 40 percent of the population of Indonesia. During the meeting, the minister and the ambassador talked about various opportunities that the two countries can unravel in the creative economy and tourism sectors.

They also talked about the collaboration opportunities regarding increasing the frequency of flight services, tactics for developing quality and environmentally sustainable tourism, sharing ideas about the ideal practices at educational institutions in Indonesia and New Zealand, digitization, and marketing plans to improve tourism awareness of Indonesia and New Zealand, Uno informed.


He said that he hopes that they can improve partnership to build up the aspects related to tourism and creative economy in the two countries, and promote and represent quality and sustainable tourism.


Also in the meeting, he called for the support of New Zealand for making the Indonesian G20 Presidency a victory.

In the meantime, Ambassador Burnett appreciated the opportunity to discuss tourism and creative economy cooperation opportunities with Uno.
