For Swansea, important tourism project proposed

To Swansea, a coastal city in Wales, the Welsh Government has committed to invest around £4 million with an intention to set up a new tourism attraction.


With a global company, the Swansea Council is in advanced discussions to set up chair lift, a cable car system, zipline and visitor centre which would connect the famous Hafod copperworks site and Kilvey Hill.


Skyline Enterprises Ltd is behind the £34 million venture. This could generate 100 full-time job opportunity, if the planning for the scheme is granted.


In New Zealand, Canada, Singapore and South Korea, the company has similar attractions.


Even though, an appeal has been initiated by the local residents, criticizing the planned development.
Dawn Bowden, Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport, said that this is a major step behind Swansea’s further development as a vivacious city destination.


It harmonizes areas other regeneration projects as well as helping financial growth and all year-round jobs.


Dawn also added that for them this is an exclusive inward investment opportunity and she wishes the team with their recent venture in Wales.


Last week, this New Zealand-based company and its representatives of Skyline Enterprises behind the proposals visited Swansea to arrange few consultation events in the local community. These are a part of the planning process.


Swansea Council Leader, Councillor Rob Stewart, said that they welcome this commitment from the Welsh Government.
