The Prime Minister of Thailand, Prayut Chan-o-cha, said that waiving the tax for hotels for another two years will help the operators related to hotel and tourism to get proper rehabilitation as the country reopens to foreign tourists once again. This measure will benefit the economy of Thailand as well as tourism is the main engine that generates greater revenue.
Prayut also mentioned that extending the waiver, the government of Thailand will issue a ministerial regulation of annual hotel tax at 40 baht per room, as the earlier regulation expired on June 30th.
The PM also stated the economy would take some time to get better even though the government has made all restrictions simple on business operations. The tax waiver would decrease the expenses of the hotel operators by almost 47.35 million baht, he said.
