For tourism recovery support, Mississauga businesses receive $900,000

Tourism Mississauga, the Destination Marketing Organization of Mississauga unveiled plans of economic support for businesses and organizations related to tourism from Regional Tourism Organization 5, and to assist them in repositioning themselves for a powerful and flexible economic future.


Through the Tourism Relief Fund of the Government of Canada, RTO5 received $12 million and it was delivered by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario with a mission to assist local organizations and businesses related to tourism and carefully welcome the visitors back, recuperate from the pandemic effects, generate jobs and prepare for the growth of future.


A member of larger RTO5 group, Tourism Mississauga, along with Destination Toronto and Experience Brampton, got almost $922,000 to help 15 local stakeholders related to tourism with the support required to make progress from the ill impacts of COVID-19 pandemic, welcoming visitors, and planning and preparing for the tourism related activities of the future.


The Mississauga projects getting this tourism related relief funding, comprise:


Hub Climbing Mississauga – Got around $100,000 to grow climbing offerings to include, floating walls and steps, spiderwebs , and slides within the facility. These upgrades will improve the options related to climbing tournament and expand the sports tourism within the city.


Carassauga Festival Inc – Will be getting $20,000 to improve making of the three-day Carassauga Festival.

This in-person event will feature indoor and outdoor activities having 23 pavilions representing different countries.
