With a target to serve the requirements of tourists before the tourism season gets ongoing in the coastal state of Goa, the Cabinet of this western state of India has extended the ‘Tourism Shack Policy’ on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister of Goa, Mr. Pramod Sawant, after attending a Cabinet meeting, he addressed a press conference, where he explained that the Tourism Shack Policy 2019-2022 has been extended. This would help to put up temporary structures, decks, beach shacks, umbrellas and huts for the 2022-23 tourist seasons.

Rohan Khaunte, the Tourism Minister of Goa, said that before the kick-start of the tourism season, the state will be all prepared to serve tourist requirements in terms of the shack policy.

Khaunte said that the shack policy in 2022 is coming to an end. The stakeholders could do business for one year only as two years simply got exhausted because of the pandemic. To extend the shack policy, there was high demand for at least two more years’ extension.

Khaunte said that after talking with the Goa Chief Minister, they have decided that on compassionate grounds, the policy would be lengthened on the same terms and conditions for one more year.

This move will help the stakeholders who had already made investments but couldn’t do business because of the pandemic situation.
