The consequences of a survey on the tourism market of the city, released on June 15, estimates that international visitors spent $145 each day on average last year, same to the amount they spent in 2016 in Thailand and well below that of Singapore ($254), Beijing ($242) and Taipei ($208), based on an official data from the Asia Pacific Destinations Index 2017 compiled by MasterCard.
The equivalent amount in terms of domestic tourists in Vietnam was $69.4. The survey was conducted by the tourism department of the city and the Statistics Bureau.
The city of skyscrapers and French heritage buildings has many more to offer globetrotters, assisting prolong stay to almost 5.21 days on an average, while locals only stay for 3.6 days, the survey showed.
Up to 48 percent of the international tourists surveyed stated that they invested four to seven days exploring the city, and 40 percent stayed for more than eight days.
In 2017, the tourism authorities of the city stepped up efforts to attract more foreign visitors with longer stay, launching a range of attractive events.
