Four Seasons Meets FRED: Savour the Pretty Woman Afternoon Tea at Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi

From February 1 to March 31, 2021, experience afternoon tea in magical Pretty Woman style at Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi. Designed in collaboration with FRED, the makers of the iconic necklace worn by Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, this signature dining experience combines the culinary creativity of Four Seasons with the joyful sophistication of the French jewellery maison.

The hotel featured in the movie happens to be Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel.”

Wrapped in Romance and Joy

The unique afternoon tea finds inspiration in FRED’s relaunched Pretty Woman collection. Made with brilliant diamonds and rubellite stones, the collection offers contemporary expressions of the 1990 film’s diamond-and-ruby necklace, which was immortalised thanks to Julia Roberts’ spontaneous laughter and Richard Gere’s unflappable elegance. Each new piece channels the celebrated joie de vivre of FRED, a name that has come to stand for love in all its fascinating facets.

A Bejewelled Teatime Spread

The sparkling shades of the Pretty Woman collection are beautifully reflected in the menu. “I love the play of colour between red and white. When rubellites catch the light, they change from red to magenta to purple. I wanted to capture these distinctive hues in our afternoon tea,” explains Executive Pastry Chef Yusuke Aoki, who interprets teatime classics with modern flair.

Discover an array of sweets and savouries in a gemstone-inspired palette, from berry red to pristine white. Sample confectionaries such as strawberry yuzu tartlet, cream cheese raspberry mousse and white chocolate fig meringue, alongside inventive savouries such as honey foie gras, milk jelly and raspberry; smoked salmon sandwiches with beetroot sour cream; and lobster and egg salad canapé with saffron aioli.

The traditional centrepiece of afternoon tea is also presented with a bejewelled twist: warm buttery scones with vibrant condiments such as raisin, strawberry and pistachio-cranberry. The delectable food is complemented by authentically brewed Japanese teas, from hojicha (roasted tea) to yuzu and kaki leaves (caffeine-free tea). Guests can also sip freshly made coffees or tea-based cocktails.

Effortlessly Stylish and Photogenic

Soaring high above the prestigious Otemachi district and framed by sweeping views of the Imperial Palace, THE LOUNGE offers the perfect venue for this stylish afternoon soiree. Themed around one of the most popular romantic comedies of all time, the ambience is elegant yet playful, luxurious yet whimsical. In other words, here is the ideal opportunity to catch up with girlfriends and create some fabulous new memories – not to mention Insta-stories.

Available from February 1 to March 31, 2021, the Pretty Woman Afternoon Tea will be served at THE LOUNGE daily with seatings at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm. The experience is priced at JPY 7000++ per person.
