French Expo team showcases responsible tourism

In light of current crisis in health sector, it is necessary than ever before to make sure that the tourism industry and travelers view a sustainable future with greater responsibility.

Les Maisons du Voyage, a French tour operator, together with the French pavilion at Expo 2020 to place ecology and solidarity at the center of the traveler’s heart. By doing this, the travel agency will reflect the themes of sustainability and eco-friendliness of the expo: restoring biodiversity, planning the cities for tomorrow by promoting a resilient infrastructure, working to stop global warming and establishing sustainable consumption patterns.

The French pavilion team considers Expo 2020 as a chance to display the transition of the country to a sustainable future. Of this, an important part is the way global climate and environmental solidarity can work in favor of the development of international companies, including travel.

The Pavilion of France will be covered with photoelectric-energy-producing solar tiles that will be removable and reusable completely.

Jean-Emmanuel Chometon, general manager of Les Maisons du Voyage, explains that the pavilion provides the operator an international platform to show its actions and innovations in terms of new forms of mobility, while being mindful of the planet.

Always, Les Maisons du Voyage has shown a powerful commitment towards the ecology and created tourism experiences that respect people, cultures and nature, says Chometon.

This commitment is recognized through the award of a 2020 certification for “Acting for Responsible Tourism” from EcoCert Environment and a partnership with the GoodPlanet Foundation, chaired by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, a renowned photographer and activist. The pair work on projects to help disadvantaged populations and the environment in Ecuador (2018), Ethiopia (2019) and Peru (2020).
