From December, Vietnam is set to welcome more vaccinated tourists

From December 2021, Vietnam will reopen all its popular tourist destinations to the vaccinated visitors coming from countries with low COVID-19 risk. Recently, the Vietnam Government disclosed this, before the full resumption of travel, which is aimed for June 2022.

Vietnam inflicted severe controls on the border area when the COVID pandemic hit the country, as per the reports. This was done to stop the virus spread. Even though the decision saw initial success, in actuality, it affected its burgeoning tourism sector, which typically accounts for around 10 percent of the GDP.

In 2021, as per the reports, international arrivals dropped to 3.8 million which in 2019 fell down from 18 million, when tourism revenue generated around USD 31 billion, which was equivalent to 12 percent of GDP. At present, Vietnam is keeping no stones unturned to speed up COVID-19 vaccinations, nevertheless, just 13 percent of its 98 million people has been inoculated as of now, which is Asia’s one of the lowest rates.

Previously, for vaccinated travelers, Vietnam had declared that it would reopen the resort island Phu Quoc from November. But now, it has decided to open it from December, it will be allowing tourists from approved countries to visit UNESCO World Heritage sites, Hoi An and Halong Bay, the beach destination Nha Trang, and the highlands town of Dalat.

The Vietnam Government added, “We are only open when it’s truly safe. We are moving step by step, cautiously but flexibly to adapt to real situations of the pandemic.”
