Fully vaccinated travellers are exempted from self quarantine in South Korea

South Korea is getting ready to make travel easier for international tourists. Four foreign countries, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Myanmar, were excluded from the self-quarantine exemption. But for the others, the officials have declared that the visitors are exempted from the 7 day quarantine rule that was in place for all people who visit the country.

From 1st April, fully vaccinated overseas travellers can come to the country without the 7 day quarantine rule. The Q-Code system of Korea Tourism Organization’s website will scan the QR code and the ask for details like passport number, departure country, airline number etc at immigration. the travellers will also have to show that they have taken a PCR test 48 hrs before departure.

The travellers who have completed a two-dose vaccine series at least 14 days before their trip will be considered fully vaccinated. A one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will also be accepted. If more than 180 days have passed since a traveler completed their initial vaccination series, they will need a booster shot to be considered fully vaccinated.

Overseas travellers will receive a QR code through the Q-Code system, which can be scanned at immigration, according to the Korea Tourism Organization’s website. The Q-Code system will ask for information such as a passport number, departure country, airline, phone number and vaccine records.

The U.S. Embassy and Consulate in the Republic of Korea says that the passengers may also face “temperature screening, health questionnaires, quarantines, and/or COVID-tests, depending on points of departure, visa status, and nationality” upon arrival.  The unvaccinated travellers and as well as all travelers from Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, and Myanmar – regardless of vaccination status – are still required to quarantine.

The Delta Air Lines offers flights between the U.S. and Seoul and airline president Glen Hauenstein cited the country’s new travel measures as another positive sign of the travel rebound during an investor conference in New York on Tuesday.

1.Jeonju

Jeonju was the spiritual capital of the Joseon Dynasty at its peak. Temples and museums fill the streets of the city. Jeonju Hanok Village, is a very interesting place where one can immerse themselves in the local culture.

2.The DMZ

The DMZ aka demilitarized zone, is the boundary area between North and South Korea. Only a small portion of the DMZ, the Joint Security Area, is open to the public. One can visit a North Korean gift shop that sells stamps, wine and currency from North Korea. The only way to visit the DMZ is on an authorized and guided tour.

3. Gyeongju

This city was the ancient capital for the Silla Kingdom. The city is more than 2000 years old. A true masterpiece of Buddhist religion, Bulguksa Temple dates back to the 8th century. Seokguram Grotto houses even more Buddhist artifacts.

4. Seoul

The capital of the country, Seoul is the biggest city in South Korea. Gyeongbok-gung and the 15th century Changdeok-gung are some of the best spots of attraction. The Ancient temples and shrines, beautiful public parks, cutting-edge design, shopping malls.
