G-20: First Tourism Working Group Meeting begins at Dhordo in Kutch

The first Tourism Working Group Meeting as part of G-20 commenced today at Dhordo in Kutch. The official inauguration will take place on February 8 by Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Fisheries Parsottam Rupala and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.


Addressing the media at Dhordo yesterday, Secretary of Ministry of Tourism Arvind Singh said nearly 100 delegates including the representatives of G-20 nations, invited countries and international organizations will take part in the meeting. Mr Singh said the delegates will deliberate upon various key issues pertaining to tourism.


As part of the meeting, there will be two separate meetings on Rural Tourism and Archaeological Tourism.
The Tourism Working Group will focus on five priority issues: Green Tourism, Digitalization, Skills, Tourism MSMEs and Destination Management.


During the meeting, the international delegates will visit the White desert, the ancient Harappan Civilisation Site Dholavira and the Earthquake memorial Smriti Van in Bhuj.


Four Tourism Working Group meetings are slated to be held as part of G-20 at various places in the country.
