The G20 Summit might provide new impetus to tourism in Bali, with the island returning to the international stage by hosting the leaders of the world’s most powerful countries.

Tourism accounts for almost 60 percent of the Balinese economy. The resort island suffered a lot with the COVID-19 pandemic bringing the global travel industry to a complete stop. Like other countries, Indonesia had discontinued worldwide flights and imposed limitations for almost two years. It ended quarantine necessities for foreign visitors in March, which is now helping Bali attract more global travelers.

Leaders from the world’s biggest economies met along with thousands of other participants participating in G20 meetings. Local hospitality industry officials are optimistic that the international attention acquired by Bali would speed up the island’s recuperation.

I.G.N Rai Suryawijaya, heading the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association’s chapter in Bali’s Badung regency opined that G20 is an astonishing platform to accelerate Bali’s tourism recovery and revitalize its economy.

Indonesia’s hosting of the G20 Summit, assembling leaders from the world’s biggest economies along with thousands of other participants, is predictable to supply around 7.5 trillion Indonesian rupiah or $480 million to the national economy, said the central government.

Even though the main event happened this week, several side events held in the early part of this year have also assisted in the local economy’s steady recovery.
