During the pandemic times, after going through some hits, Georgia tourism is all prepared to go for a record summer.
During the Memorial Day, the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is hoped to manage around 2.1 million passengers. This rush started from Thursday and extended through Wednesday. This is an increase from around 2 million travelers during the same time 2022.
The Delta Air Lines over the Memorial Day is hoped to fly almost 2.8 million passengers on the weekend. This would be a 17% rise over last year.
The average expected 500,000 passengers every day is hoped to surpass the volume experienced during pre-pandemic holiday weekend logged in 2019.
The executive director of the Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association, Jim Sprouse, said that this summer, it’s going to be record travel year. Also Jim said that they are keeping an eye on 2019; they are actually once again started flirting with those statistics and in few cases, surpassing them as well.
The tourism industry of Georgia, actually, has remained comparatively sturdy all through the COVID situation.
The state Department of Economic Development, in the early months of 2020 COVID-19 outbreak, reported almost 151.8 million visits. This increased from 150.9 million in pre-pandemic 2019.
In 2021, visitations increase once again to almost 160 million. Also, the tourism industry of Georgia in the same year was in line with the $4.2 billion in state and local tax revenues that in 2019 the state had produced.
