In the GM’s Conclave panel discussion at the 36th edition of Express Food & Hospitality Expo, the Goa hospitality is deepening its focus on the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) segment.
Shridhar Nair, GM, The Leela Goa, started the panel discussion on ‘Goa as a MICE market’. He said that MICE constitutes 35 per cent of our business and it is expected to cross the 42 per cent mark.
He said: “We have now plans to expand the MICE facilities to cater to the whole segment. Goa gets about 7-8 per cent of business and we are expecting it to grow at 11-12 per cent. We want to increase the share of MICE.”
Goa Marriott Resort and Spa, had 25 per cent dedicated to the MICE market in 2018 as per Gaura Apte, GM, Goa Marriott Resort & Spa. They want the MICE segment to form approx 39 per cent of the business.
As per Rajendran Menon, GM, The Zuri White Sands Goa Resort & Casino, said that the hotel receives 40-44 per cent revenue from the MICE segment.
As per Hasanullah, GM, Lemon Tree Beach Amarante Goa, the whole of Goa market still lacks the infrastructure required to host MICE segments.
South Goa has a lot of potential for MICE segment considering the supply and amenities of services in infrastructure.
Goa can become an emerging MICE destination without losing its charm.
