With Goa reopening for tourism, those well-off are spending more than Rs. 10 lakh are flying to Goa in private jets. Nine private jets landed in Goa in the last 10 days and the state is fast coming up as a preferred destination for those owning their second home or luxury villas there.

Majority of these private jets come from Mumbai and Delhi. Over the last few days, Goa International Airport has hosted all types of business jets from Gulfstream-200s to Bombardier Global 6000s, bringing to the state a variety of folks like the family of L K Advani’s son and the Shah family owning the diagnostics chain Metropolis Healthcare.

Private jet operators have seen a 60% increase in enquiries and Goa Airport officials are witnessing more requests for such flights, mainly from Mumbai, Delhi and Pune.

Since many affluent people cannot visit abroad now due to several restrictions, Goa is a possible and lucrative option for them. According to a stakeholder, “Goa has a practical standard operating procedure (SOP), and it is attractive.”
