The tourism department of Goa is strong-willed to concentrate on 11,000 hotels, which are in service unlawfully in the coastal state, said Minister Rohan Khaunte.
Minister Khaunte said that the Goa Small and Medium Hoteliers Association has put forward a memorandum to the division regarding hotels in Goa that are operating without compulsory listing with the government authorities.
The minister said that he has asked the director of tourism for taking necessary action against these 11,000 hotels. The association has filed an official objection against these hotels.
The Goa state tourism department has by now asked all the hotels to get connected with the department’s portal, said the minister.
Minister Khaunte said that while the authentic business owners carry out their businesses by paying taxes, they cannot permit the violators to operate by avoiding the laws. He added that the state cannot put up with the loss of income due to these infringements.
