The tourism department of Goa has declared that it would create a Jetty Policy for this year to explore the entire prospective of the coastal state waters.
In a public notice, Goa tourism director Nikhil Desai has invited proposals and objections for framing the policy.
Goa boasts of 104 kms of huge coastline and 255 kms of inland waterways. They are currently being utilized for the purposes of material movement and public transportation, said the notice. The policy envisions improvement of appropriate arrangement like jetties, floating pontoons, creating jetty terminal and for making sure that there is a balance of the welfares of tourists and stakeholders and smooth, specialized and safe manner of cruise tourism undertakings.
For exploiting the complete prospective of the Goan waters for tourism purposes, the Goa government is willing to come up with a jetty policy for controlling the introduction and maneuver of passenger cruise vessels or operators using jetties that are prevailing or imminent, anticipated by any government department in Goa to be used for tourism purposes.
The tourism department has asked for ideas and doubts from the general public regarding the planned draft jetty program which has been uploaded on the Goa tourism department’s official website.
