Goa’s iconic and oldest five star now in hands of IHCL

In a strategic move, the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) will take over the management of one of Goa’s oldest and iconic five star hotels, Cidade de Goa. The hotel, which currently operates 207 rooms, will form a part of the IHCL’s SeleQtions portfolio – a named collection of hotels and resorts with a distinct character.

 

An additional 299 rooms which are under construction, will be added to the same complex under the Taj brand scheduled to open by the end of this year, IHCL said in a media statement.

 

The Fomento Group are the promoters of Cidade de Goa.

 

“Iconic properties like Cidade de Goa under a management contract with Fomento Resorts and Hotels Ltd., promoted by the illustrious Timblo family will further strengthen IHCL’s position as the most iconic and profitable hospitality company,” Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, IHCL said in the statement.

 

Designed by famous architect late Charles Correa, Cidade de Goa, known for incorporation of local design and style blended with Iberian flair, is located at the Vauinim beach in North Goa.
