Greece witnesses rise in tourist arrivals

Recently, Greece has verified that for the tourism sector of the country, this year is turning out to be favorable, disclosing that tourism related arrivals and revenues have increased in different region of the country. It has even exceeded the numbers of 2019 in terms of tourists who had travelled to these areas in that time.

Vassilis Kikilias, the Greek Minister of Tourism, explained that these insights were seen in spite of several global issues like inflation, energy crisis, war in Ukraine and the pandemic, Greece is all geared up to improve the tourist arrival numbers until the end of 2022.

He pointed out that tourism success requires immense hard work during the winters, which was achieved absolutely and now, those efforts are bearing the sweet fruit. He appreciated the professionals of the industry for rendering high-level services with quality. According to Minister Kikilias, in Greece, American tourist arrival has risen by almost 50 per cent compared to 2019. This has happened because of the strong Greek-American relations, which the Minister stated that the Prime Minister has recently sealed with his Washington trip.

Also, he emphasized yet another particular strategy that brought the contract with American Airlines for 63 direct flights every week from the USA to “El. Venizelos”.

Also, minister Kikilias explained that a classic instance is Thassos, which is full of travelers from Romania, as for the Easter, the occupation on the island was around 90 per cent and is currently at 100 per cent.
