Greek PM envisions a positive year for tourism

Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Greek Prime Minister, confidently said that in 2022, tourism sector will show positive signs of recovery post-Covid-19 exemplifying the rising demands for Easter and for the summer season.


The PM while speaking with the Tourism Minister, Vassilis Kikilias, on Wednesday in a meeting said that social tourism programs that will “enable people who face the greatest difficulties due to the crisis to go on holiday with the support of the state” will soon be declared.


This week, Mitsotakis visited the tourism ministry to know more about the developments of the sector before the season.


“2022 will be the first summer in three years that we will virtually have no pandemic restrictions,” he said, mentioning that the main aim is to make the most on the good reputation of Greece in order to attain “as much as possible a better and longer tourism season”.


The PM also emphasized that this summer there will be stricter inspections with regard to labor law adherence.


“We will not accept any phenomena of abuse of power by employers to the detriment of employees in tourism”, he said.
