The Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre (GTRCMC) and the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) have joined forces to strengthen tourism resilience in the Caribbean region. The partnership was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the CHTA Marketplace event in Barbados.
The collaboration between the GTRCMC and CHTA aims to enhance resilience within the tourism industry and establish a united front against potential crises and challenges. By providing communication support and conducting research, the GTRCMC will empower tourism stakeholders across the Caribbean.
Resilience is crucial for the sustainability of the tourism sector, which remains vulnerable to various disruptions. The GTRCMC’s co-founder and Minister of Tourism, Hon Edmund Bartlett, emphasized the importance of building capacity to effectively plan and respond to these disruptions.
The partnership will focus on promoting sustainable practices, improving disaster preparedness, and facilitating crisis management in the Caribbean tourism industry. The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the need for collaboration and partnership in crisis management, and the support of the GTRCMC will enhance the CHTA’s strategies.
By leveraging knowledge and expertise, the GTRCMC and CHTA aim to create a resilient future for the Caribbean’s tourism industry, capable of withstanding any challenges and fostering continued growth and prosperity.
This collaboration represents a significant step toward building a resilient and sustainable tourism sector in the Caribbean, ensuring its long-term viability and the well-being of the communities it supports.
