Porbandar in Gujarat, the coastal city is currently in the process of changing the Gosabara-Mokarsagar wetland into a sustainable eco-tourism hotspot. In Porbandar, this wetland is one of the most flourishing sites when it comes to wildlife and nature.
Situated on the Arabian Sea coast, Porbandar in Gujarat is not a heavily explored destination. But, this status may change once the coastal city has a dedicated eco-tourism destination.
The state government, as per the reports, is planning to set up the Gosabara-Mokarsagar wetland complex with a mission to attract more tourists particularly nature and wildlife lovers. They consider that by doing so, they will succeed in controlling the rising water salinity problem, and make and get the habitat for the resident better along with migratory birds.
Keeping a check on the water salinity issue will improve irrigation water availability, if the reports are to be considered; therefore benefiting the locals also. The main target is to go for a sustainable eco-tourism destination.
Spread over 90 sq kms, the Gosabara-Mokarsagar wetland is the home to more than 186 species of birds. The project is targeted at developing guesthouses, interpretation zone, eateries, parking space, watchtowers and nature trails around the wetland. The Mokarsagar wetland complex is not just a place but a group of wetlands comprising Kuchhadi, Subhashnagar and many others.
