In the rapidly-developing eco-tourism destination of Hatta, there are already plenty of happy campers or popularly known as ‘glampers’.
Now Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid can be added to the growing number.
The Vice President and Ruler of Dubai substituted the hustle and bustle of big city life for a visit to Hatta, which is around a 90-minute drive away from the emirate.
Sheikh Mohammed took notice of a wealth of construction, service and environmental projects taking place in the area, which is an emerging rustic retreat for people across the country.
During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed urged for expediting projects related to Hatta’s 10-year development plan. He stressed the importance of prioritizing good service and environmental and heritage-related projects, due to their significance in preserving national identity.
A significant component of the eco-tourism drive is glamping, a term for more lavish facilities on offer than the standard camping trip.
A development plan is already underway, with airstream-style trailer accommodation and lodges opening recently in the Hajar Mountains, 115 kilometres from Dubai City.
