Hawaii Convention Center excels in venue management

The Hawaii Convention Center bagged national recognition for ‘Venue Excellence’ on Wednesday.

 

The 2019 Venue Excellence award was accepted by General Manger Teri Orton at the annual VenueConnect conference in Chicago.

 

The association said that the award recognises amphitheaters, arenas, casinos, performing arts centers and other venues which excel in providing their communities with a safe and enjoyable space for all types of events and educational opportunities.

 

Orton said that the work of the entire team was awarded for providing world-renowned service and aloha to each of our guests. They felt proud to welcome a variety of major conferences and international sports tournament during the past year and develop new engaging community events like the Sunset Mele and Night Market.

 

Orton mentioned that they rolled out numerous amenities to provide additional convenience, as well as launch their Hoomaluo environmental conservation program, which includes their Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

 

The Convention Center is managed by the AEG Facilities and is comprised of a 200,000 square-foot exhibit hall, a 35,000-square-foot ballroom, 47 meeting rooms, two theaters, and a 2.5-acre events garden.

 

 

A number of major events has been hosted here this year. It included the 15th International Congress of Toxicology which ended on July 18. Thee center will be hosting the National Medical Association’s 2019 Annual Convention & Scientific Assembly, which will run from July 26-31.
