Hawaiian Airlines has officially launched its operations in Utah, perfectly timed for the summer season.
The airline celebrated the commencement of daily nonstop flights between Salt Lake City (SLC) and Honolulu (HNL) with a vibrant celebration at the gate. The event featured a warm welcome for the inaugural passengers, complete with fresh orchid lei, passion-orange-guava (POG) juice, cake, and live performances of music and hula by the Hawaiian Airlines Serenaders.
The service schedule includes flight HA84 departing from HNL at 6:50 p.m. and arriving in SLC at 5:15 a.m. the next morning. The return flight, HA83, leaves SLC at 7:00 a.m., reaching HNL by 9:55 a.m., allowing passengers plenty of time to hit the beach or explore the island. This new route also serves to connect Utah’s significant Pacific Islander community more closely with Hawaiʻi.
“We know the Hawaiian Islands have a special place in the heart of Utahns and for some, a Hawaiʻi vacation also means reuniting with friends and family,” said Brent Overbeek, executive vice president and chief revenue officer at Hawaiian Airlines. “Our new Salt Lake City service comes at the perfect time for travelers planning their summer vacations and we look forward to welcoming them with our award-winning Hawaiian hospitality.”
“We extend a warm welcome to Hawaiian Airlines as they join the SLC International Airport family,” said Bill Wyatt, executive director, Salt Lake City International Airport. “Hawaiian Airlines has a reputation for excellence in hospitality and we look forward to many years of prosperity.”
Passengers flying on Hawaiian’s Airbus A321neo, which has 189 seats, can enjoy complimentary high-speed Starlink internet, a menu inspired by Hawaiʻi curated by distinguished chefs, local beverages from Maui Brewing Co. and Kō Hana Hawaiian Agricole Rum, and island-themed snacks and treats from the Pau Hana Cart, along with free in-flight entertainment, including exclusive content from HanaHou! TV.
Following the inaugural flight, Hawaiian Airlines invites Utah residents to participate in the 31 Days of Lei, a month-long global celebration commemorating the 95-year heritage of both May Day and Hawaiian Airlines, recognized as Lei Day in Hawaiʻi. This event takes place on May 18 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the City Creek Center. It will feature a special lei stand where attendees can receive orchid hair pins, flower lei, exclusive promotional merchandise, and POG-flavored cotton candy, with ongoing performances by the Hawaiian Airlines Serenaders.
Participants will also have the chance to win 200,000 HawaiianMiles through the airline’s 31 Days of Lei global sweepstakes.*
