HEI Hotels and Resorts introduce new health and safety protocol

Leading hospitality investment and management company, HEI Hotels & Resorts, has decided to undertake an initiative to protect the health and safety of hotel guests and workers amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is being introduced with the aim of supporting proper social distancing and hygienic practices. It would include more than 80 independent and branded hotels at HEI’s portfolio.


The initiative will consist of combined new standard operating procedures, alterations to hotel spaces, the purchase of disinfecting technology as well as personal protective equipment. All employees will undergo temperature checks every day before their own shifts. The company has also secured enough personal protection equipment (PPE), including masks and gloves that could be used until the end of the year.

The company has also purchased electrostatic sprayers that use hospital quality disinfectant in order to enhance cleaning procedures. The spray will be used in both public and private spaces. All guestrooms will also be sanitized and housekeeping staff with place door seals to ensure visitors with the feeling of safety and protection. In addition, HEI has introduced an expansive training team that has developed enhanced safety instruction for all associates.


HEI is constantly following state guidelines with regard to restaurant dining and special events in order to modify operations. They have also made alterations to hotel spaces as well as food and beverage offerings to maintain proper social distancing. Partitions have been installed in high touch areas, such as the front desk and bars to separate the guests from employees. Moreover, new touchless procedures or low-touch restaurant dining and banquet options have been implemented to restructure dining and catering options.

Anthony Rutledge, CEO and Managing Partner, Hotels & Resorts said in a statement that the company prioritises the health and safety of guests and associates above everything. He informed that the company has undertaken every precaution based on the best research, used the latest technology, and rewritten operating procedures to meet the highest standards for hygiene and workplace safety. He said that it also aims to maintain the same consistent level of excellent guest service alongside the safety measures.
