In the 2024-25 period, the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has successfully blended innovation with tradition, securing ₹108.67 crore in revenue while offering visitors more than just accommodations. Through collaborations with IRCTC, digital platforms like MakeMyTrip, and new ventures into food delivery and foreign exchange, HPTDC is making the state an even more attractive destination for travelers, ensuring a seamless, memorable journey while positioning Himachal Pradesh as a leader in the competitive tourism market.

The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has made impressive strides in the 2024-25 period, not only securing ₹108.67 crore in revenue but also positioning itself as a forward-thinking player in the tourism sector. With its portfolio of 56 hotels and restaurants, the corporation has expanded its offerings beyond just accommodation, providing visitors with immersive experiences that showcase the warmth and hospitality for which Himachal Pradesh is known.

As part of its strategy to enhance the travel experience for tourists, HPTDC has entered into a partnership with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Together, they have launched a platinum card aimed at frequent travelers, premium clients, and institutions. This card is designed to offer exclusive benefits, streamlining travel for its users and making it easier for them to access HPTDC’s diverse services.

Looking to further diversify its revenue streams, the corporation is preparing to venture into the foreign exchange sector. Pending approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), HPTDC plans to set up money exchange services at its marketing offices. This move could significantly enhance the convenience for tourists and business travelers visiting Himachal Pradesh, particularly those from overseas.

Strategic collaborations have played a crucial role in HPTDC’s success. A notable partnership with MakeMyTrip (MMT) has helped the corporation expand its digital presence. This collaboration has already yielded an advance revenue of ₹2 crore, signaling a growing interest in Himachal Pradesh as a key tourist destination. Additionally, HPTDC’s engagements with private and government organizations have been fruitful. The corporation has signed 197 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), resulting in an additional ₹1.1 crore in profits.

The corporation is also tapping into the evolving market by entering the food delivery space. HPTDC has partnered with popular delivery services like Swiggy and Zomato, covering key tourist destinations including Shimla, Dharamsala, Palampur, Manali, and Rampur. This collaboration allows tourists to enjoy local delicacies from the comfort of their accommodation, making it an attractive option for travelers looking for convenience. Furthermore, HPTDC has introduced outdoor catering services for corporate events and private functions, an initiative that has already brought in ₹99 lakh, further showcasing its ability to adapt to the changing dynamics of the hospitality sector.
