A historic hotel in the Texas Hill Country will be getting some major upgrades soon. The $1 million renovation is expected to begin this fall.

The Faust Hotel in New Braunfels will be receiving a plethora of changes during the fall remodel, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing.

The scope of the work includes a remodel of the first floor and an entry addition, according to the filing. The “existing kitchen, one-story kitchen block, and bar is being stripped back to existing structural walls and remodeled. The dining room is being maintained, but an entry addition is going on parking lot side,” the TDLR states.

Construction is expected to last around six months with a start date of September 18. The renovations are anticipated to be completed by April 1, 2024, according to the filing.

The newly renovated Magnolia Patio Bar also reopened at the Faust Hotel at the end of April, allowing guests to enjoy food and drinks outdoors, according to a social media post.

The Faust Hotel opened in New Braunfels on October 12, 1929. During World War II, the Faust Hotel was known as the “Honeymoon Capital of Texas” due to service members being stationed at nearby bases. The military soldiers would marry their brides before getting deployed to the war.
