Threshold wants intervention on property rent on AirbnbA leading news media agency has reported that a holidaying family has lost their savings after arriving in Auckland from Barcelona to learn English, for gearing up for a full-time move.

The family had stayed at two Airbnb properties before making efforts to book yet another listing inside the suburb of Takapuna.

However they were told that their credit card payment had not gone through and therefore had to pay money to a Spanish bank instead. After they had made the payment to stay from the beginning of September to the end of November last year, they were shocked when they discovered that the listing was fake upon arrival at the property.

The family was thinking about returning to Spain because of this but then decided against it as the local communities were very loving and cooperative. The local community started supporting the family to help raise funds, organize accommodation and furniture and food for the family.

Currently Airbnb has started investigating the matter.

During the booking proves, Michaela’s credit cards were not accepted. And, someone claimed it to be from the company helping via live chat. The 23-year-old was asked to pay via bank transfer and she did so. But then she found that her host had gone silent.

When she finally enlisted friends to approach on the door of the property she was told by its owners that the house was never enlisted on Airbnb.
