Holland America passengers suffer due to norovirus, over 70 ill

hollandDuring an outbreak of norovirus in the U.S . northwestern state of Alaska more than 70 passengers on board a cruise ship of Holland America Line suffered massively.

 

 

The cruise line confirmed that  73 people fell ill and suffered due to stomach virus on the cruise ship of Zaandam according to the cruise.The ill passengers were isolated in their cabins while Zaandam was docking at the Juneau.

 

 

Railings, door handles and other commonly touched surfaces were cleaned to prevent the virus from spreading further which was carrying more than 2,000 passengers and the crew members.

 

 

The usually symptoms of norovirus includes diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, fever or headache and it is mostly caused by contaminated, food, water or person-to person contact.

 

This year marked the sixth norovirus outbreak on a ship this year and the second one in Alaska as per the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

 

The cruise ship Silver Shadow saw some 36 people aboard falling ill during a voyage.
