Hong Kong Disneyland has decided to open its doors to guests once again on June 18, becoming the world’s second Disney Park to reopen following months of closures due to the coronavirus pandemic. The opening also served as a blueprint and gave an outline of the operations and facilities that would be provided in Disney parks around the world post the pandemic. Hong Kong Disneyland is likely to follow similar procedures with enhanced with social distancing regulations and mandatory usage of face masks for both guests and employees.

All guests will be required to book online reservations up to seven days prior to their arrival in order to maintain crowd control. Upon arrival, they will have to submit to temperature checks and wear face masks. The Magic Access members or the park’s annual pass holders will be given additional priority for booking reservations. In addition, Disney has also decided to change character interactions in its theme parks as it reopens in the new normal. Guests would not be allowed to have up-close experiences like photo ops with Disney characters but can enjoy socially distanced activities like shows and presentations.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong Disneyland has been working towards its latest attractions during the hiatus. A new ‘Castle of Magical Dreams’ have been included in the park and visitors will be able to see the progress as it enters its final phase of construction. The park is also working towards building a new ‘Frozen’ themed section. Stephanie Young, Managing Director, Hong Kong Disneyland said in a statement that the park is proud to be part of the Hong Kong community, which has worked hard and shown fortitude in how it has handled the pandemic.
