Hospitality & tourism job ads rise

The number of jobs advertised related to tourism, hospitality, and construction online increased in February as employers are keen on rising hiring in a tight job market.


Seek’s recent employment data shows the number of ads increased 1 percent in February from the month before.


Annually, job ads were 13 percent lower but were still 15 percent higher than the 2019 pre-Covid levels, the manager, Seek country, Rob Clark stated this.


For the first time in a year, applications per job ad dropped. It fell 7 percent after 12 months of successive growth, however, was still above the levels of pre-Covid times, Clark mentioned.


He said that longer term they’ve the heat come off the market in opposition to what were excellent highs in 2022.


Therefore, positively a release of the labour market, in regard to the job numbers that they’re seeing, but February held up in a sensibly good manner against January.


Still there are ample opportunities opening for businesses and candidates, with increasing rise in application levels.


Clark mentioned that the number of job ads in tourism and hospitality increased 8 percent on a monthly basis to meet the rising demand.


The industry is visibly ramping up as tourism picks up. Ads for cooks, chefs and other roles went up 4 percent in February, and wait staff increased18 percent.


The jobs related to construction sector climbed 11 percent on January.
