Hospitality workers in New Orleans said that they do not know how they are going to make ends meet with the city’s convention industry coming to a virtual halt.

The corona virus epidemic and a new order from the Centers for Disease Control has come at a time, which is one of the busiest tourism seasons for the city.

Corona virus concerns have severely affected travel. Business is down by around 80% at some hotels.

Corona virus concerns have already hurt tourism as a result of the recent mandate by the CDC.

“This situation is fluid, we’ve had a number of events canceled,” said Tim Hemphill with the Morial Convention Center.

This week, an electrical engineering convention and a sleep products convention were canceled, and officials are trying to get them as well as a dozen others rescheduled for mid-summer.

Hospitality workers are trying to keep themselves safe by maintaining social distance and by using sanitizer.

Tourism industry officials said that they are working with members of Congress regarding relief package for hospitality workers who are impacted by the corona virus pandemic.
