The Houston Spaceport, in conjunction with Rice University and the Rice Space Institute, along with the French Space Agency (CNES), is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking collaboration aimed at fostering the workforce, resources, and cutting-edge technology necessary for humanity to take the next monumental step in space exploration.
Philippe Baptiste, President and CEO of the French Space Agency, the National Center for Space Studies (CNES), paid a visit to Rice University on March 18, 2024. The visit primarily focused on initiating discussions for future collaborations among Rice University, CNES, and the Houston Spaceport—a vital joint-use facility supporting NASA operations at Ellington Airport, managed by the Houston Airport System.
During the visit, key stakeholders formalized their commitment to strengthening industrial, economic, scientific, and technological partnerships between the French and Houston space ecosystems by signing a letter of intent.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the Houston Spaceport as it expands its global presence in space exploration. Leading aerospace companies such as Axiom Space, Collins Aerospace, and Intuitive Machines are actively contributing to the endeavor at the Houston Spaceport. These industry giants are pioneering next-generation technology essential for eventually sending ordinary individuals into space for living and exploration.
