Himachal Pradesh, known for its charming sceneries, is adopting important measures to tie the unexplored tourism potential of the Pong Dam reservoir together, which is alternatively referred to as Maharana Pratap Sagar. Situated in the middle of the charming Shivalik hills based in the Kangra district, this artificial reservoir is famous as a sanctuary, mainly attracting migratory birds, like the Siberian cranes and various other Russian and trans-Antarctic species. Identifying its importance, the reservoir at Pong Dam has been chosen as a Wetland of national significance and a Ramsar site as well.
With the main target to unchain Pong Dam reservoir comprehensive tourism potential, the government is designing an ambitious course. Plans are in progress under the guidance of Chief Minister Sukhu, to make a wide selection of facilities related to water sports and add to the current infrastructure in the region of the reservoir. The government is eager to kick off traditional boats, Shikharas in the backwaters of the lake. This will offer the visitors tranquil rides in the middle of the calmness of the lake.
Furthermore, on the horizon, a floating hotel is to be set to give exceptional good lodging facilities that balance the scenic beauty of the reservoir. Moreover, adventure aficionados will almost immediately have the chance to fly high in hot air balloons, adding an exciting aspect to this place.
