Hundreds of flights cancelled due to expected heavy winds at Amsterdam Airport

There were warning for possible disruption and tens of thousands of passengers intending to avail the Amsterdam Airport have had their flights cancelled due to strong winds.

 

 

Winds with the speed of 30mph or more were predicted from the northwest and the UK flights were the worst hit. There were 62 arrivals and departure cancelled majorly on the Dutch airline.

 

 

A dozen flights to and from each of Heathrow and London City airports of KLM was grounded along with multiple departures serving Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Durham Tees Valley and Leeds Bradford.

 

 

Amsterdam and Edinburgh, Glasgow, Humberside and Norwich single round trips between these countries will also be affected.

 

 

However, the Eurostar rail connection from London St Pancras to Amsterdam was running normally but easyJet has cancelled round-trips from Standsted and Liverpool.

 

 

 

KLM has cancelled more than 200 Continental flights with Paris,where the rail alternatives are worst affected. All three round-trips in Berlin, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Geneva, Madrid, Munich, Oslo and Stockholm have been cancelled.

 

 

Moscow and Istanbul are the furthest destination to see the cancellations.

 

 

Those booked to travel via Amsterdam is provided by KLM the chance to rebook free of charge for a later date. The parent airline Air France and Delta Airlines will also apply the offer.

 

 

The airline  stated that it was doing its best to help the passenger on the way again.Passengers  will not remain  entitled to cash compensation for cancellations and delays as the cause of the disruption was poor weather.

 

 

Passengers will be provided with meals and accommodation as a part of strict duty care for airlines until they can be flown to their destinations.
