Florida’s Panhandle will be severely affected due to dangerous storm surge, flooding and winds as rapid Hurricane Michael is intensifying and threatening to smash.

It will become a major hurricane by Tuesday and will be responsible for landfall Wednesday afternoon or evening in the areas between Pensacola in the far western Panhandle and Apalachicola which is located south of Tallahassee on the coast.

There were warnings that Michael could be one of the worst hurricanes to ever strike the Florida Big Bend and Florida Panhandle region.

On Monday night the Micheal’s maximum sustained winds increased to 90mph as per the National Hurricane Center’s update.  For the Alabama-Florida border to the Suwannee River a hurricane warning was in effect. There was hurricane watch issued from the Alabama-Florida border to the Missisippi Alabama border.

Mandatory evacuation  orders were issues in three Florida Panhandle due to the storm surge threat. It is predicted that a storm may swell up to 12 feet for larger parts of the Florida coast.

The Category 3 hurricane might lead to unavailability of electricity and water for several days to weeks after the storm passes.

Major hurricane has winds of atleast 111 mph and if the forecast turns correct Michael will be the 11 major hurricane to hit Florida in October since records in 1851.
