IBTM World has broken record for pre-arranged appointments, this year a total of 77,651 business meetings were booked ahead of the event reflecting 5% increase on last year’s total. The average number of appointments per exhibitor saw an increase of 9% year-on-year which was up from 25.1 to 27.4 for 2018.
For the first time this year as per the latest figures 54 per cent of Hosted buyers will be participating in the Hosted buyer programme and this was 20 per cent on 2017. In the IBTM portfolio 50% will be completely new showing an increase of 16% year-on-year while 20% of them are corporate buyers where 52% are new to the IBTM portfolio.

He said that this year will be another successful opportunity for exhibitors in terms of the volume of quality opportunities to do business with completely new contacts. It will be boosting the team as they will be entering the final stages of preparation for next week’s event.
Moet Hennessy, Netflix, Bayer US, Diageo, Salesforce, Hewlett Packard, Amway, Toyota, Delta Air Lines – Worldwide Meetings and Events, Motorola, Peugeot Sport, MIA Comunicacion (WALMART), Inter IKEA, InfoWatch, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Procter & Gamble, Siemens Ltd. and SONY will be the buyers from these organisations.
IBTM has also announced that as well as a strong portfolio of returning brands, this year an exciting selection of first-time exhibitors will be at the Barcelona event, including Tourism Promotion Board Philippines, Tourism New Zealand, Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism, SIXT GmbH & Co., Global Passenger Network, Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. and Rosewood Hong Kong.
Last year there were 3,000 exhibiting companies from over 150 countries, 3,463 buyers and thousands of visitors taking part in IBTM World.
