Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, the Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, has targeted this year with almost 1.5 million quality tourists from abroad to visit Bali.

Quality tourists, as per Uno, are the ones with high levels of spending and stays for a long time in Bali compared to others in a bid to improve country’s economy and create job opportunities in the province.

He said on Monday that our steps are to bring into line in the middle of a decreasing promotion budget. We must use more the entrepreneurial spirit now. Uno stated that his ministry had tried several methods to attain the target, e.g. by organizing numerous events of international-scale.

He affirmed that we will reach this with our new programs, like sports tourism, international events, MICE and tourist villages. Besides the target of 1.5 million international tourists, Uno observed that the ministry in 2022 was aiming seven million quality tourists from his country to visit Bali. He confirmed that in Bali, the G20 Summit has been scheduled in November this year, and it’s hoped to make the delegates stay in Bali for longer duration and influence province’s MSME players in a positive way. During the G20 Summit, in 40 hotels, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will accommodate 400 MSMEs. The minister confirmed that at present, the tourism and creative economy sectors of Bali had started reviving once again, even though not yet optimal.
