In 2022, Fiji will welcome 500,000 visitors

According to an official said on Tuesday, Fiji is anticipated to welcome 500,000 tourists from abroad in 2022. The tourism statistics are looking quite good. In 2022, around half a million tourists are expected to visit the island nation, Shaheen Ali, the Permanent Secretary for Tourism, was saying the same at the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation.

He said that for the first half of 2022, they have improved more than half their tourism numbers from the same time in 2019. Of the same month pre-pandemic times, arrivals in June were 73 percent. They are expecting at least 500,000 visitors, by the end of this year, with complete recuperation to attain by 2024.

This island nation has a population of almost 900,000. On a per year basis, before the pandemic, it received more than 800,000 foreign tourists.

Tourism Fiji, in May 2022, introduced its Corporate Plan 2022-2024, which set a clear direction for the industry and its partners in the next few years.
