In 27 Virginia communities, tourism program was launched

New tourism programs, which are suitable to receive grants from the state was introduced in 27 Virginia communities. It’s expected to encourage financial growth. This week, Gov. Glenn Youngkin declared the same.


After the plans are executed, the communities will acquire grants of $10,000 which would help to develop them further. The Virginia Tourism Corporation’s DRIVE 2.0 State Tourism Plan Implementation Workshops developed the plan which got participation from over 1,200 community leaders and business experts all through the commonwealth, as per the governor’s office.


Youngkin said that the conclusion of the DRIVE 2.0 workshops and the development of over 100 fresh tourism programs actually gives a sign to a new era in development and marketing of tourism in the Commonwealth. For new tourism product development, infrastructure and programs, investment is an established way that helps in improving the economy by generating new jobs and tax revenue. This will show the way to significant modification of the communities all over the Commonwealth, and additionally underlines the reputation of Virginia as the best place to live, and work, and travel around.


During the COVID-19, the tourism industry hit a major obstruction when people were staying at home and majority of activities were restricted. Few tourism industry members have shown their concern about the constant increase of prices and extreme gas cost that followed the pandemic. The DRIVE 2.0 program was introduced to help the sector and the community to revive from the pandemic.
