After experiencing a record-setting on October, November and December in tourist development tax revenue, the Space Coast Office of Tourism has its eyes fixed on 2022.
Later February, a million-dollar tourism campaign will be starting and the tourism office is all hopeful to break records this time.
Tourism development tax revenue, at the end of 2021, was higher than before the pandemic. Recently, tourism officials explained that rocket launches have improved the local economy.
“As far as looking forward, I think we’re very positive,” said Peter Cranis, executive director for the Space Coast Office of Tourism. “We think January was strong from all the hotel numbers we’ve seen.”
Also, spring break is about to start, as is the office of tourism’s new $1.1 million marketing campaign that launches in this month.
Launches, beaches, cruises and area attractions will all be part of the campaign. It would bring more visitors to the area.
The Space Coast Office of Tourism said tourism development tax revenue paid for a lot of local projects, including park improvements and beach renourishment.
