In just a Decade, Africa Tourism to Generate 14 Million Job Opportunities

As per WTTC and its recent Economic Impact Report, African tourism the next decade, is anticipated to generate 14 million new jobs opportunities. This encouraging report and prediction from the WTTC, on an annual basis, shows an average of 1.4 million new jobs. The report also unveils the news that travel sector will lead the process of financial revival of this region, with its annual GDP outpacing the economy for the next 10 years in general.



The GDP of travel sector is predicted to rise at an average rate of 6.8% every year between 2022-2032, as per the report. It’s more than twice the 3.3% growth rate and expected to reach almost $279 billion.



By the end of 2022, the contribution of travel to GDP is hoped to grow 20.5% to $144 billion. This would amount to 5.1% of the total economic GDP. In tourism in 2022, employment number will grow by 3.1% and reach 22 million jobs.



Also, the annual report of the global tourism body shows additional confidence for the Travel GDP of the region which by 2023 has a chance to approach pre-pandemic levels.

Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, said that Africa is obviously reviving. The continent is set to experience a major recuperation in the coming years. It is looking beyond the next 10 years as the tourism sector has all possibilities of creating almost 14 million job offers.
